Fruit & More S’mores

What do you get when you overload a graham cracker with fruit, fruit, and more fruit, then a sprinkling of chocolate chips and a drizzle of chocolate and caramel? A personalized Fruit & More S’more! And it is one of the best and funnest (yah, I said funnest) snacks I think we’ve had in a long time. Not only was it fun to eat, but it’s fun to create!

I typically don’t go too overboard on snacks. But this particular weekend my in-laws were visiting. We had a late breakfast, a smallish lunch, and knew it would be a late dinner. So we needed something substantial to tie us over mid-day. Plus, I wanted an activity that the boys and grandma would both enjoy. Thus began our graham cracker culinary creations.

You would never imagine how into snack-making one can get until you make these with your kids! It’s adorable and hilarious!

Fruit & More S'mores creation time!

Connor concentrated really hard when spreading his peanut butter. Here’s hoping he concentrates this well in school!

Dylan was extremely detailed in the placement of each fruit and marshmallow!

And Ethan… this kid! He put marshmallows on each one of his s’mores, but ate them off the top first. He seemed more intent on eating than he did creating his snack.

A couple of tips to make your snack decorating go better:

  • Put your ingredients in a bowl rather than keeping them in the packing because… sticky little fingers!
  • Maybe have the adult drizzle syrup on the top if you’re making these with young kids. Hence the following picture… Connor was so calm and nicely went to drizzle sugar-free chocolate syrup on his s’more, but instead had a chocolate explosion! Even after Grandma retrieved the bottle, he sat there staring at his plate in shock for several seconds! Hilarious!

Happy kids eating their Fruit & More S'mores creations.

And as you can tell by their jelly and chocolate covered faces, the boys LOVED their snacks and the experience of making them! Our middle child, who loves to help me bake and set the table, was thrilled to get his own creative time in the kitchen. Connor found his chocolate puddle was good for dipping after his s’mores were gone. And everyone from toddler to grandparents enjoyed snack time!

UPDATE: My boys (now in junior high and high school) still love this snack and they still love making them! They are thrilled whenever I pull out everything to make these Fruit & More S’mores!

Happy creating and happy snacking!
