This motherhood thing is not quite what I had expected. Its way freaking harder! Dirty diapers and baby puke. That was to be expected. Extra laundry. Kids who are hungry all the time except for at meal time. Not surprising. But all the sibling rivalry and sass that comes outta these kids… dear heavens, most days I want to scream!

Actually, I have screamed. And yelled. In fact, I’m so good at yelling I could make it an artform.

The funny thing is, yelling doesn’t really work. It does for a hot second, but then comes the mom guilt that turns into anxiety.

We start worrying about how much I’m screwing up my kids by yelling at them.

Are they going to go to school and tell everyone they have mean moms?

Is our anger what they’re going to remember of their childhood?

I can first handedly tell you that I feel ya when it comes to all the maddening parts of motherhood. But even among the chaos, I’ve learned to slow down, calm down, yell less, love more and really enjoy my kids.
